A Women’s Pain Needs a Women’s Touch

Strain Counterstrain

What is Strain and Counterstrain?

Strain and Counterstrain is a form of manual physical therapy that uses an indirect means of passively positioning a painful or restricted joint or muscle to relieve pain and mechanical dysfunction.  In addition, a mild stretch is applied in a direction opposite to the strain from which the body is suffering. The physical therapists at A Different Approach - PT for Women (ADAPT) utilize this gentle and effective manual technique when treating a large range of musculoskeletal dysfunctions.
